Range makes it incredibly easy to stay on top of what my team is doing, and what they're feeling. Particularly during the remote coronavirus lockdown, this has become invaluable.

Status Report Software FAQ

Answers about sharing team updates

What is a status report?Show/hide the answer

A summary of work and tasks completed in a given week communicating (via email, Slack, or Range) current status of work tasks to teammates and stakeholders.

  • What was accomplished in the past week?
  • What was not accomplished?
  • What blockers prevented important projects from being completed?

Why have a status report and share team updates?Show/hide the answer

A status report should inform what happened, and why it happened in the way it did. Managers should be able to look at them, talk to a team member, and figure out how to solve any remaining problems related to these specific projects and deliverables. A status report should explain how the work is going and advance discussions about the work, mitigate risk, and processes involved with the work.

How do you prepare a status report?Show/hide the answer

A status report should communicate:

  • What did you accomplish today or over the past week?
  • What meaningful progress have you made on projects?
  • What problems or blockers are you encountering?
  • What have you learned this week and how will it inform your work next week?

The last question is valuable as your team looks ahead to the next week.

What is an WSR in project management?Show/hide the answer

A WSR stands for "weekly status report." This can be issued via your project management tool, in a meeting or via an async check-in using Range.

Why use Range as your status report software?Show/hide the answer

Range helps teams know what’s happening, stay in sync, and actually feel like a team. One of the ways in which Range accomplishes this is by providing teams a tool to easily compose, share, and review status updates, called Check-ins.

Range integrates with the tools you're already using, such as Asana, Jira, GitHub, Google Docs and Calendar, so that it can automatically present you with recently updated action items to include in your daily and weekly project status reports.

Success stories

“Great tool for asynchronous teams working across time-zones to keep in sync”
There is a direct correlation between when I run the meeting in Range, and a 50% reduction in the amount of time our standup takes out of my team’s day.
“Very complete”
What I like the most about Range are the integrations it has with other applications, the notifications and the customization of my profile.
“Ruthless efficiency making way for human connection”
Amazing. It enhanced our stand ups and team dynamic. It really helped our team get to know each other outside of team events and had us interacting as people daily, instead of cogs in a corporate machine.
“Fantastic business tool!”
So many things! The task list is by far my favorite as it helps myself and my team keep track of items that we need to follow up on throughout the week/month and helps us to plan accordingly. We all have many different accounts that we work, so keeping things all in one spot is extremely helpful.
“Range allows our stand-ups to be much more useful”
We can get rid of all the boilerplate of standups by just putting our current status into range. We put range's 'flag's onto topics that we want to bring up as a group. And then during our standups, we use those flags to prioritize discussion. So our standups become many tiny adhoc meetings, instead of everyone just saying their status and then scheduling more time to actually have productive discussions.
“Range is the easiest way to stay in sync with your remote team”
It was dead simple to set up and the Slack integration made it an immediate natural extension of our team's daily workflow!
